Post-Surgical and Anesthetic Instructions

•Your pet may be groggy after undergoing anesthesia so they should be kept quiet when they go home, so they don't injur themselves.  They should be leash walked, rested in a cage and limit stairs and jumping.
•Provide small amounts of food for the first day that they are home.  Anesthesia can slow the gastrointestinal tract so large amounts of food may make them sick.
•Your pet may be prescribed medication or special food after certain procedures.  Please be sure to read, understand and follow all instructions.
•Some sutures need to be removed and some are desolvable, be sure you know which your animal has, if any.  It is also a good idea to set up your suture removal for 14 days from when your pet had surgery before you leave.  We will call you to remind you of your appointment the night before.
•Please look at the incision daily.  Look for any redness, swelling or discharge.  If you see your pet licking at the incision or you know your pet will lick ask for an Elizabethan Collar.
